Weaveworks helps enterprises build better software and operate it reliably, at scale. We’re thought-leaders and industry-changers when it comes to Cloud Native technologies and practices. We created open source tools you’re probably familiar with; Flux, Scope and EKSCTL. Our approach - GitOps - is where continuous delivery meets Cloud Native and puts enterprises on the path to continuous everything.
In the trifecta of People, Product, and Process, this role lands in People.You’ll grow and nurture an engineering organisation that is well-regarded, diverse, and regarded as experts in their field. You’ll help us balance engineering efforts that both serve a community and contribute directly to revenue generation. Our portfolio includes established, category-leading products like Flux, products we’re incubating that are yet to be released and our flagship enterprise product, Weaveworks Kubernetes Platform.
You will get to;
Manage distributed and remote engineering teams
Grow a healthy and collaborative global engineering team by recruiting and retaining amazing software engineers
Coach and mentor individuals and teams to help them realize their full potential
Partner with other engineering managers to define, advance and advocate the principles of our engineering standards, practices and vision
Partner with Product Management to align engineering priorities so that we deliver rapid value to our customers and open source community users
Contribute to strategic planning
Continue to build your profile, represent Weaveworks with clients and in open source community contexts
Collaborate with your peers, teams, product management and our exec team to create a co-ordinated product stack across open source and commercial offerings
We're looking for
You’re a former software engineer who has moved into an engineering leadership role in an agile, open source leaning environment
Finding an organisation that would make great use of your intelligence, integrity, ideas and inquisitive nature is really important to you right now
You have a track record of helping high-performing, highly technical, remote-first teams ship great products
You have a pragmatic approach to agile processes and organisational change management
Building balanced and inclusive teams while scaling fast is important to you
You have an interest in or prior experience leading open source projects
You bring breadth of open source engineering practice experiences
This role reports to Cornelia Davis, our CTO. We welcome candidates with interesting and diverse backgrounds, for example fluency in multiple languages and cultures.
