ENGAGE. ADAPT. GROW.

Martha Moniz

Senior Engineering Manager, Intercom

Talk Title
The path towards (a more) tech-agnostic hiring process

Talk Abstract

Traditionally, companies have hired software engineers based on how deeply they dominate a specific set of technical skills. By chasing this formula exclusively, it’s easy to miss out on candidates with a high-value, broad set of skills capable of delivering more well-rounded solutions and often higher quality outcomes.

In this talk, I’ll share an approach to identify which core skills are required for an engineer to thrive in your organisation, as opposed to the knowledge they can gain during onboarding. This will help you build teams with complementary strengths and a solid base made up of strong communicators, problem solvers and owners.
