Talk Title

An Agile Leader’s journey across the diversity chasm

(Co-presented with Akemi Micallef)

Talk Abstract

In this interactive talk, Akemi Micallef and Rashee Harvey explore this “diversity” chasm between an organisation's so called “reputational” diversity and inclusivity – and the game changing ability to leverage the organisation leadership, siloed departments and an organisation’s lived values to realise the super powers the full potential of a truly diverse and inclusive workforce as told through an Agile Leaders journey to cross the diversity chasm. This talk will help participants gain awareness and insight about the barriers to inclusive leadership.

We will have a close look at what keeps today’s Agile Leaders from harnessing the power of diverse inclusive leadership through the use of “stereotypical” feminine positive traits and “diversity decision making”. We will use Personas and Empathy Maps to establish a fictitious, yet relatable Agile Leader – an amalgamation of leaders we worked with and our own leadership experiences – and the tools and techniques that allow them to “cross the chasm” and harness diversity and inclusivity in decision making, collaboration and innovation.
